Doyle & Mallinson feature a new work in "Sunbeams Giving the Air a Kiss" at the Millais Gallery, Southampton. The exhibition runs from July 25- September 6 2008. The private view is July 24.

Birds have always inspired poets and artists. They hold a special place in our consciousness and have often been the subject of interpretation in words and images. For this exhibition the Millais Gallery has brought together artists who have responded to the specialness of birds and their place in our symbolic universe. Shaun Doyle & Mally Mallinson will bring Joey, the mad, bad, completely deranged budgerigar, who is set to take over the world. Laetitia Yhap's paintings of Hastings beach often owe their compositional uniqueness to the gulls that attend the fisherman's every move. Artists include Greg Palmer, Jane Watt, Eileen White and Jacqui Mair. Alec Finlay was commissioned to make special bird boxes for the new extension at Bluecoat Liverpool and has made some especially for this show. Chris Cudlip will perform at the opening with his banjo and busking Toucan.
